Email transfer to yahoo

Do I have to choose yahoo or can I choose another email provider such as Gmail or outlook and have all my emails switched over to them?

... can I choose another email provider ...

Note that, for the moment, migration is optional.

Information on the Yahoo migration can be found at https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/yahoo-email-migration-overview and https://help.yahoo.com/kb/new-yahoo-mail/SLN36803.html. Although these do not make clear what happens if you move your mail to another provider, my impression is that, if you do, your Comcast.net email address will no longer work, whereas if migrated to Yahoo, it will.

Although Comcast/Xfinity information stresses the "wonderfulness" of migrating to Yahoo, note that there are drawbacks. These may or may not matter to you:

  1. Yahoo mail has ads. To avoid these you'd need to add an ad blocker, or pay an additional $5/month for Mail Plus
  2. Yahoo mail does not have auto-forwarding, unless you pay the aforementioned $5/month for Mail Plus
  3. Many of the settings users may have made to configure their Comcast.net mail are not available with Yahoo

When I try to transfer to Yahoo, Yahoo says it does not recognize my email address.  When Comcast support said they sent me an invite, I never received it.  How do I make this transfer??  Thank you

Did you speak to someone on the phone?  How did you access "Comcast support"?

Currently invites to migrate to Yahoo! Mail have been suspended but when they are sending them out again migration is optional for the time being.

When you get the invite and you see it in webmail, it will have the verified logo next to it before you open it.  If you don't see that logo, the email did not come from Xfinity and is a spam/phishing email.

@user_f0a3dc,

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. As someone who relies on my emails for important communication, I can understand how frustrating it is when you’re trying to transfer your email to Yahoo, and nothing seems to recognize the address, or when you don't receive that invite. You've reached the right place. Over social media, we are a dedicated team of experts here to help get this moving in the right direction. We can help. If you are having trouble transferring your comcast.net email to Yahoo and have not received the invite, it may be due to your account being ineligible or having incompatible messages. Have you tried checking for any notifications in your Xfinity account, as @Again awesomely mentions? If you have already been invited, ensure you check your email and spam folders for the email with a verified logo. If issues persist, you may need to resolve any incompatible messages before proceeding with the migration.
