emails not going to trash just disappearing when deleted

I have no emails in my trash folder, if I delete an email it does not go into trash folder it disappears, my trash folder has 0 emails in it. I cannot see any deleted emails in trash folder. I log into my email on a  desktop computer directly into xfinity site.

Try clearing your cache and cookies. Also, I believe the trash is discarded after about 12 days or so.

... if I delete an email it does not go into trash folder it disappears ...

In webmail, check to see if

(gear icon) / Email Settings / Mail / Behavior / Permanently remove deleted emails

is checked.

Also check "Trash / Recover Deleted Items". Your missing emails may be there. See https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/recover-deleted-email.

I checked the first one (email settings) it is not checked, I have not looked at recover deleted items yet as the emails are suppose to go to trash folder, they should not be automatically deleted by Xfinity, I will look there next

no the issue is not resolved, but I did discover the trash icon at the top of email says delete not trash, while the folder on left says trash, so the 2 locations are different, the trash icon at top of email used to say trash and when selected email was put there it would go in trash folder now it just goes to xfinity outerspace

I popped into my Comcast.net email address and was able to use both the 'delete' option within the email, near the email header, along with the trashcan icon that now says delete and view the emails in my trash folder. I tested with 5 emails and noticed a few of the emails, 4th and the 5th emails I deleted, took a few moments to populate in the trash folder.

Which browser are you using to access your email from connect.xfinity.com? Have you attempted to clear your browsers cache and cookies?

I clear my Cache & Browser every time I use the computer, I am using Chrome on my personal desktop, and Safari when on I-Pad,  my work computer which uses current version of edge now has me blocked from accessing other email so I cannot try it there

gray517 Thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forum. There could be a few possible reasons if you still cannot see any deleted emails in your trash folder on the Xfinity site. First, ensure you haven't accidentally set up any email filters that are deleting or misfiling your emails. Additionally, check that your emails are not set to be forwarded to another email address. If these two things are correct please send us a direct message with your full name and full address, so that we can continue to troubleshoot this with you.

To send a "Direct Message" message:

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Direct Messaging" icon at the top of the page (looks like a text bubble)
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it
