how to get away from yahoo I hate yahoo

I totally despise yahoo email!  I did want to migrate but it was mandatory and I had not choice.  I get so many ads but to get rid of them yahoo wants you to spend money for a plan to be add free?  Ridiculous,  The emails are hard to read and find. too much spam.

Any suggestions on how to get away from yahoo email?  I have so many people who have my email and afraid to change I would lose do many contacts.  I have had comcast email for over 30 years and never had any problems until they forced this yahoo stuff on us.  I heard once you are using yahoo you can not go back?  There has to be something we can do to have a more user friendly email account without all this adds and junk emails.

Depending on your browser you might be able to find an extension that blocks those ads.  I have one for my browser and it works well.

I migrated to yahoo mail and all I can say is that my Comcast email was much better.  Yahoo mail is terrible.  Don't need the ads.  This migration may just give me another reason to ditch Comcast. I wish i could go back to Comcast email but i suppose they are eventually getting rid of it and dumping us off onto a lesser product designed to save Comcast money.

I am going to spend the next week or however long it takes to change my email address for everything to something else no matter how hard it is. I have Gmail and iCloud emails. Anything will be better than this terrible Yahoo account! I am so mad at Comcast. I will then change to another internet provider. Sorry Xfinity. You lose my account!

You are not alone.  Many people are going to leave Comcast due to this poor merger procedures. I have used Yahoo as a secondary email for year and it is a magnet for Spam.

I also have a yahoo acct that I use to catch spam and have hesitated to migrate from Comcast as 'dictated' and now I am really concerned and scared to migrate. As someone else said we also pay $300 a month and at least Comcast email has spam filters but Yahoo filters are a joke and we should NOT have to pay for the version without spam UNLESS Comcast pays for it which sounds viable to me.

Is there a way that I can get rid of Yahoo and go back to my original Xfinity email address?

I'm sorry, but once you migrate you can't go back.  Is your main complaint the ads?

user_rcjqha Thank you for reaching out to us here with your concerns regarding your email migration to Yahoo. To stop spam emails in Yahoo Mail, actively mark unwanted messages as spam to train filters, unsubscribe from legitimate marketing emails, and create custom filters for recurring spam phrases. On desktop, you can use "Block sender" via the three-dot menu, though users note that due to high volume, some spam may still bypass filters.

That is not an acceptable answer. We pay Xfinity over $300 per month and you no longer take responsibilty for anything. If we have a problem you tell us to go to the outsourced vender. If we have to go to them for support and thru charge us an additional fee, why do we need you? Your company and service is not what i t used to be. I hate Yahoo! My email is almost 40 years old and is embedded in my digital life and your new business plan has me crashed!

I suggest using an email client/program/app like Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple/MacMail, or any other free email apps out there to get your email.  I use Thunderbird and although I haven't transitioned my comcast.net email yet, I do have a yahoo.com email address I download to Thunderbird.

And, FWIW, both Spectrum and Cox have transitioned their email accounts to Yahoo! Mail.

@XfinityBrianH Can I use another email client after I just made the switch to yahoo? I find more spam and the requirement to upgrade and pay to get rid of ads is not a positive! If I can't switch back, you should have made this abundantly clear in the conversion message and give us a heads up about the drawbacks. I am a 30 year comcast email user and I find this unbelievable.

Yes, you can use any email client you like.  I use Thunderbird so I never see the ads, but I also use an ad blocker in Firefox for yahoo mail.

Yes, you can use third party email clients like Thunderbird, Mac Mail, Outlook or others.  The only difference is that you would need to use the Yahoo IMAP or POP server settings instead of those for Comcast.
