How to get rid of the "do you want to permanently delete the email" warning message

I use Duck Duck Go web browser on a Mac mini.  I am now receiving this message after pressing the garbage can icon on every email I want to delete:

“Do you want to permanently delete the email?"

I would like to eliminate this extra step.  Is there a fix?  I have seen one other post asking for this but it was closed 11 months ago.  Thanks.

... Do you want to permanently delete the email? ..."

In webmail, check to see if

(gear icon) / Email Settings / Mail / Behavior / Permanently remove deleted emails

is checked. If it is, you'll get that message, and deleted emails don't go to the "Trash" folder, they go directly to the hidden 30-day "Recover Deleted Items" folder. Clear the checkbox to change this behavior.

Well explained.  To me, this is not quite logical.  But it’s working- thank you!
