I can't receive my outlook email when plugged into AT&T Modem.

About 4 months ago we added AT&T Fiber Internet to our home. (we still have comcast/xfinity) My wife works from home and Xfinity's reliability in my area is less than desired.

I've never had any issues with my "Outlook" comcast e-mail account. It's always sent & received as it should. BUT.. when I'm plugged into the internet via the AT&T modem, my outlook can't receive my comcast mail. I can access it from the web, but it doesn't store anything in my outlook like I prefer. I can plug my laptop into the Xfinity modem directly and it works correct again.

I've barely messed with e-mail settings (mail, pop, pop3, etc), but changed them back when it didn't fix the issue.

We plan on keeping both services for now, so it would be nice to have to switch modems to download e-mail into Outlook.

Hi there, @SgtDeadeye Thank you for taking the time out to message us here! I understand how important it is to have access to your email especially nowadays. Since it's been a few days since you last posted, are you still having trouble with your email?-Richard

THANK YOU FOR REACHING BACK......  Yes, I gave up trying to fix it myself and wanted to try this forum before attempting a support phone call.

It would be nice just to download & save mail like I use to, by just starting my outlook. ..J.R.

Thank you for your time, @SgtDeadeye This issue occurs because Comcast often restricts POP3/SMTP email access to their own network, blocking incoming/outgoing mail when using another ISP like AT&T Fiber. To fix this, change your Outlook outgoing (SMTP) server settings to use SSL and authentication, or use the webmail interface for sending/receiving while on AT&T.-Richard

Thank You for the reply. I checked my outlook settings again and it appears I'm already using SSL and authentication, so I guess there aren't any workarounds. {SAD} Well I'll figure something out.  I wish I never had to go with AT&T {except for the speed difference}, but as previously stated: between the random service improvements, power outages that affected xfinity lines, internal service disruption, etc..... and to beat all ... during our last ice storm Xfinity was down almost 2 weeks, and guess what, AT&T never skipped a beat.

Again ... Thank You... and with no workarounds, I guess I won't be needing Xfinity much longer.

J.R.

FYI: I don't think it matters, but I internally disabled/bypassed the AT&T modems wireless, since my TP Link Router works great.
