Possible phishing email [Edit]

I have received an email telling me that my Comcast.net email account is about to be closed unless I "click on the link below." How do I know that isn't a scam? I have received scam emails supposedly from Social Security and supposedly from our state transportation office. Is there a way I cab update my policy from the Comcast or Xfinity site to be sure this is not a scam email?

First, NEVER post any personally identifiable information to a public website where anyone can read and glean that information, and that especially included email addresses.

Any Comcast/Xfinity official email will have the verified logo next to it when seen in webmail.

If you see that logo you can bet that it is a legitimate email from Comcast/Xfinity.

Good evening user_k9xptg. I can certainly understand your concern with this. We are in the process of migrating our Comcast email to Yahoo. Have you received any other communications recently from Yahoo or Xfinity yet? If you haven't yet, you should be receiving an email asking you to accept the Yahoo terms and conditions in order for your Comcast email to be moved over. I mention all of that because if you do not take action, the Comcast email, would close. But, before you click on that link I would want to be sure, it is in regard to this situation.

... about to be closed unless I "click on the link below." ..

That's a scammer phishing email. Do not click!

Note that the legitimate "Important update" email says that when you account is ready to be moved, you will be prompted to sign in to xfinityconnect.email.comcast.net to accept Yahoo’s terms of service and complete your move to the Yahoo Mail platform. That link leads to the regular Comcast/Xfinity email site, so you know there's no monkey business going on. See https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/email/68e5cc7e19d01b57e46b0864?commentId=68e64c7119d01b57e46df868 for an example of what that will look like (unless they change their mind again!).
