too many emails sent to spam/junk

i am starting to see a number of emails being sent to the junk folder. i am using ios mail app but that isn’t the problem.  and this mail are marked as read, so not why the junk folder wouldn’t only show unread mail’s? the sender is not marked as spam  it almost seems like mails that i read in my inbox are subsequently then copied to the junk folder. why is this happening?

Philt56 thank you for using the Xfinity Community Forums to reach out regarding your emails being sent to the junk folder. We are happy to look into this a bit more for you. Just to confirm the issue at hand, you are seeing the same emails located in both your regular inbox and junk folders?

thanks, the new mail program update  in ios has a confusing new icon which looks like trash can but is actually for junk . so i had been sending mail to junk by mistake
