Will Outlook email work after September 16 2024?

I have my Outlook.com account set up in Thunderbird, and it appears that all the settings are already as recommended by Microsoft in that link.  I didn't do anything to it myself.

My impression is that customers who have set up their Outlook.com email as a secondary account in Xfinity Connect will lose that, as it does not support "Modern Authentication" (Oauth2, I believe), is that correct? Or, for that matter, any client that does not support Oauth2?

Got an E-mail from MS today. I'll have to manually switch to using Oauth2 instead of "Normal Password" in my Thunderbird client settings.

I don't have an Outlook account, but had to make this kind of change in Thunderbird a few years ago for my Yahoo account. As best I can remember, it was fairly simple. Good luck!

I just added my Outlook.com (@MSN) to the Comcast secondary account I use for this forum.  So let's wait 2 or 3 days and see what happens.  Right now its working just fine.

So it's the 17th, and the Outlook.com account is still working as an added account in my secondary Comcast account.  Mine is an older one using the (@MSN.com ) domain.  So far so good.

Update------------------

I tried accessing the MSN account today and got an error message saying the password is wrong---------it's not.  I can sign into the webmail UI for MSN just fine with it.  So I deleted the account from Comcast and tried to re-enter it and got the same error.

Sooooooooooooooo

@Latoque that's the response with MSN switching to Oauth2. I've been slowly updating my MSN email clients to use Modern Authentication. Is it any surprise that Comcast trails behind modern security methods?

I've been having issues accessing my Microsoft email accounts from the xfinity web app off and on for months ever since Microsoft first started announcing the change. Even though the settings were correct (according to the microsoft page) sometimes the accounts would connect and sometimes they would give an error. Today, 4 out of 5 of our family accounts stopped working, even though the settings for all of them are the same. Why the fifth one is still working is a mystery. The easiest thing for us would be if Xfinity plans to support the "current" protocol.

Are you going to support OAuth2? If so, when?
