Xfinity Email on an iMAC
A week or so ago, Xfinity made me change my password. So I reset the password in Apple Mail on my iMac. But I had problems connecting. So I deleted the mail account for Xfinity and started to add it back. However, i can only set up the Xfinity account as POP not IMAP. I have no issues on my iPhone or iPad, but the iMAC Apple Mail won't allow me to set up the Xfinity account as IMAP. How do I solve this?

I found a solution for force an IMAP Comcast email account on an older iMac (which was my issue). First in "mail preferences - account information" uncheck "enable this account" for the POP Comcast account. Then click on the plus sign in the list of email accounts to add a new account. enter a fake email address and domain name [Edited: "Personal Information"] for example. Then enter a fake password. and save. Obviously, it won't connect, but you do get the ability to create an IMAP account. Then add all the correct info for the real Comcast email. Poof, you have an IMAP Comcast email.
