Xfinity Webmail Delete Function Freezes in Firefox (Works in Edge)

I’m reporting a reproducible issue with Xfinity Webmail when using Firefox on Windows.

When I try to delete an email, the message turns grey and the delete action never completes. The UI freezes in this greyed‑out state until it eventually resets. The email does not delete.

This issue happens:

  • On multiple Windows 11 devices
  • In Firefox (latest version)
  • With clean profiles and no extensions
  • With default privacy settings
  • Even after clearing cache/cookies

The problem does not happen in:

  • Microsoft Edge (delete works instantly)

    • Mobile devices (delete works normally)

This confirms the issue is specific to Xfinity’s desktop webmail interface in Firefox.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Log into Xfinity Webmail using Firefox
    2. Select any email
    3. Click Delete
    4. Email greys out and never deletes

Please escalate this to the email engineering team. This is a consistent, reproducible compatibility issue between Xfinity Webmail and Firefox.

    Thank you.

@Dr--G

FWIW, I am not having that problem.

Windows 11

FF 148.0.2 (64 bit)

When you cleared your cache and cookies, did you sign out and then close FF and then start a new session?

Hello Dr--G, thank you for reaching out here in our Xfinity Community forums. Also, thank you for the very detailed notes. I would like to get a little more information so that we can still follow up with you, and keep you updated.

Also, have you tried other browsers? If so, what were the results?

(I personally prefer and use Firefox, so I understand how you would want to use that)

The failure to move/delete xfinity web emails on firefox does repeat but not every day/time.  Perhaps it depends on server load or other server side situations.  When it is happening I switch to Edge for email and don't have the problem.   I prefer to keep using firefox for most everything - so switching to Edge now and then to get around the problem is what I have been doing.  I see this problem with firefox on two windows 11 machines I use and can use the Edge workaround on both.  It is clearly a server side problem since I always start with a clean firefox and see it on multiple machines.
