flex not available as cast device
I have followed the directions to enable casting to my flex, but the flex is not shown as a possible cast device from the YouTube app on my android phone. That YouTube app DOES show my Chromecast, DVD player and smart TV as possible cast devices. It also shows a "Link with TV code" option, and if I open the YouTube app on the flex and follow the directions I CAN cast to YouTube app on the flex.
I have contacted Xfinity flex support and they went through several things, but nothing has corrected the problem. I have done a bit of checking from the google cast troubleshooting and I can ping the flex, no big surprise. I have installed the avahi-discover package on my linux laptop and no big surprise only the chromecast shows there.
I thought to try something else via telnet and find the following results:
telnet connects successfully to ports 8008 and 8009 of the chromecast
telnet times out attempting to connect to ports 8008 and 8009 of the flex
Given this it appears that the cast process is not running on the flex despite the configuration setting to do so.
I also thought to try and find the following results:
ssh, telnet and www to chromecast yield "connection refused"
ssh, telnet and www to flex result in timeouts
Where do I go from here to get this working?
