X1 Intermittent Sound Cut Out Skipping Audio Issue

I was having this issue and it was as annoying as everyone on the old threads said

 I tried the suggestions and none of them worked. The suggestions were to switch from 1080p to 1080i indevice settings. That worked for most people, not for me. 

Then it was to switch the audio to stereo away from Auto. Worked for people, but not me. Finally it was to use the brand new cable that came with the box. Worked for one couple, but not for me. Ultimately it was my audio receiver. I had to switch the Optical cable from Optical 1 to Optical 2 and that worked for me. I noticed that when I switched to using the internal speakers that also worked but I coukd not use my surround sound. Maybe it was a combination of switching both in terms of the optical and the internal speakers. Try this if all else fails hopefully it will work for you too.
