Xfinity flex using non Xfinity router

I was recently instructed by two Xfinity employees at local store that flex box can only be used with Xfinity router equipment only....is this true I see mention of others using their own equipment or tethering direct to ethernet.  I have my own modem and security router of my choosing and settings that I can control.   Are we able to connect current flex boxes directly by ethernet to my modem or connect by wifi to personal owned routers?

Hello @user_68c2b5, thank you for reaching out to us. I am sorry to hear that, I am happy to advise that you can use your own modem/router as long as it is listed under compatible list of equipment. Here is a super helpful support article https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfinity-flex-overview that can help you and provide you with tons of FAQ's. Did you already order Flex or need help ordering it?
