Disable voice mail

I would like to disable voice mail on my elderly mother's home phone so that she can get her messages on her answering machine, which is much easier for her to use.

This is the same problem I am facing with my elderly mom.

This is INSANELY difficult - and unaddressed -- in the layers and layers of the XFinity website.

Worse, I finally got a human person on the phone who promised to address this. He failed to turn off her voicemail. So we are back to her frustration, calling me for help.
