porting an Xfinity landline number to a cell phone?

A relative has died, and I would like to rescue his Xfinity landline (VoIP) phone number by porting it to a REALLY CHEAP cell phone. How do I do that? That is, this isn't a number that I'd use, but i'd like to receive calls occasionally.
