SPAM block settings question

If I set the High, Medium & Low Spam Risk all to Block, does that mean any call that indicates SPAM in the caller ID will be blocked?

Good Morning, @user_793642 Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here regarding questions regarding your SPAM block questions. Yes, setting all Xfinity Spam Risk levels (High, Medium, & Low) to "Block" in the Xfinity Connect portal means almost all calls identified by Xfinity's network as potential spam, nuisance, or fraudulent will be blocked. These calls will not ring, and the caller will not be able to leave a voicemail.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

A related question, what is the difference between High, Medium & Low Risk Levels?

@user_793642 the difference is basically how high of a level of security it is that you want when it comes to blocking spam calls. High level it is going to block the most suspicious calls, low level it will only block known verified spam numbers. Medium is in between.

Thanks,

So to block the calls that actually indicate SPAM all I need to do is set the Low Risk Level to Block.

FWIW, I was watching TV & a call came in which appeared on the screen & it indicated Spam Low Risk. On the phone it only indicates SPAM, not the risk level.

What determines High, Medium or Low Risk?

That's a great question, @user_793642. It is primarily the callers' history. Any numbers that have previously been identified as spam will be blocked on all levels. A great deal of spam callers (including the ones that call me) are using randomly generated new numbers each time they call out. These numbers are too new to have been identified one way or the other, so they usually go through when settings are at a lower level. The other types of calls are from blocked numbers. It can be difficult to identify a call from a legitimate source with a blocked number (doctors, government, law enforcement, etc.), vs a spam call from a blocked number, so they are all treated the same.
