turn off voice mail

Hello:  I want to turn off voice mail.  I have an answering machine.  My home phone calls are also diverted to my cell phone.  However, there are times (if the modem needs a reset) when a call goes to the Xfinity voice mail and I will not know that because 5 months of the year I am out of state.  Please tell me how to disable the voice mail.  I see past posts regarding this but also saw that the person was instructed to to do a peer to peer request or conversation and I could not find how to do this.

I have the same problem.  I never signed up for xfinity vm.  But if I am on the phone and i get another call it goes to voicemail.  I never realized this, and for more than a year, I have lost many calls.  Including hospital stay time when a roommate needed me and I did not get the msg.

@tommieboi120 Thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Forums. Permanently removing the voicemail feature from your service is not something you can do on your end, but it is a change to your account that we can assist in making. To get started, please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address.

To send a "Direct Message" message:

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Direct Messaging" icon at the top of the page (looks like a text bubble)
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it
