Calls go straight to voicemail

My home phone goes straight to voicemail without ringing, but I have determined that it is not consistent. As far as I can tell the incoming calls from cell phones get through but the calls from internet based land lines do not. The tech folks do not seem to place any importance to that observation. This seems to be a widespread problem but I have seen no answers.

Hello @user_c48acb I do apologize for the experience you've encountered with incoming calls going to voicemail.

As we begin to troubleshoot the concern, can you please try and reboot the gateway for me, make sure the phone cords are inserted correctly, and the Do not disturb feature is not turned on.

Thank you. I am not at home right now but will try all of this when I get home. But, through the process with Comcast, I have rebooted the gateway at least 4 times and it made no difference. The Comcast rep on the phone sent a tech out to the house and he tried repl;acing some connections to the wiring and did replace the master X1 box for the TV. He said there might be an issue with one of the cable wires in the wall and that might be the next thing we try. He might want to split off the modem connection from another line as a temporary before running a new line which would be difficult. The box made no difference. To be certain of the variables, I ordered a new phone system, which has not been delivered. But I can tell you this. There is no problem calling out at all. Incoming, it appears that there is no problem getting through with a cell phone, but land lines that are internet based do not get through, at least as far as I can tell. A couple of days ago I changed the phone cord to a new one and I did manage to get a land line call to go through but today it does not. I do not know if these are just random numbers or specific numbere that do not ring. As for the do not disturb, how can that be an issue if som calls get through and some do not?

I will try to start up later today.
