I just installed the Xfinity Gateway XB7-T to replace the old XB3. After I activated the XB7-T, I no longer have dial tone for my landline.

Hello,

Today I installed and activated the new XB7-T that Xfinity sent me.  I previously had the XB3 and had both WiFi and voice service.  After removing the XB3 and installing and activating the XB7-T, the WiFi worked great but I discovered I have no dial tone on my voice service (ie. landline phone).  I have ensured the connection is secure and connected to the XB7-T correctly (ie the connection marked with a telephone icon).  I read online that the XB7-T may need to be provisioned for voice.  Can someone please help me?  At the moment, I have no landline phone.  Thank you.

Just wanted to provide an update that my problem has been resolved through the excellent assistance of an Xfinity live agent.  It appears the problem occurred during setup of my new XB7-T Gateway internet.  I also have voice service but the setup program in Xfinity app only prompts for entry of the CM MAC.  I gave the agent the MTA MAC which I assume was needed for provisioning of the voice service.   Hope this info is helpful to others.  I would just add that text exchanges with Xfinity live agents seem to be the best method of getting problems like these resolved.

We are so happy to hear that you were able to get everything resolved with the no dial tone on the phone after the modem swap @user_7i1cr9! Typically, just the updates with the MTA Mac and some signals, it will bring it back online. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us here if you have any other questions/concerns, we are happy to help. Have a wonderful rest of your day!
