Landline doesn’t work with new modem

My home landline does not work after installing new gateway modem. I do not have any dialtone.  I’ve tried all troubleshooting options, suggested by the Xfinity chat assistant.  Xfinity chat assistant sends me into an infinite loop.

Exact same problem for me.  Checked and rechecked that everything was set up correctly but no dial tone and messages are being sent directly to voice mail.

I had this problem & was told by someone at an Xfinity store to bring in the modem & exchange for a different one. Same model modem... just a different one. They said these modems have different settings & sometimes it's easier to try a different modem than narrow down the exact setting that needs to be changed. Might have been a load of BS but it did work. Don't try to get help online or over the phone... their customer service now is useless. Unfortunately you need to go into a store and talk to someone there (someone you can understand).
