No Dial Tone on home phone after new modem installed

I recently received a new modem/wifi gateway.  Since installing it our home phone no longer has a dial tone.  I have tried the plug/unplug, restarting the gateway etc. still no dial tone.  The phone is plugged directly into the back of the gateway.
