Phone Doesn't Ring with Some Incoming Calls

On a number of occasions, our telephone doesn't ring with an incoming phone call. The vast majority do but we were waiting for some important call-backs and the call came in but went to voice mail and did not ring. Is there something wrong with my system. I tried to called and Xfinity rep but there are no phone numbers, just Xfinity Assistant which was worthless. I need to get this resolved because the calls that have done is are important.

Hello user_wmljr7! I'm sorry that not all of your calls are coming through. I know what it's like when waiting for a call for an appointment or update on a request. Let's dig into your trouble and make sure we fix it, so you never miss another call again. The calls that are being missed are they all from the same caller or phone number? Does your home phone plug into the back of the modem/gateway or into a wall jack in your home?

The calls are not always from the same person. And out phone has wall jack but the connect to the router we have for phone, internet and tv. One thought I had with the more recent call was that it was a computer calling us with a call-back, one of those "We can't take your call right now but we will call you back at your number". The computer does the calling and ask to hit "One" to get an agent. Of course if we didn't answer the call (not knowing it rang) by the time we get the message it's a dead end; start all over and the same thing happens. Others may have been that. We have had others along this line: the Senior Center with broadcast message (a real human but recorded and pushed to all members) and our local town with a parking ban, again recorded and transmitted. So it seems as I recall these were all non-human calls and we would not here them right away. But the latest one with the hit "one" was the most frustrating because the calls out by me and back by computer meant never connecting.

@user_wmljr7 Just to clarify, the calls being missed are when you request a call back, as well as recorded calls? Have you ever activated call screening on your home phone? If so, can you try disabling it? This link will walk you through the steps to take.
