Phone number portability

I would like to know when it comes to moving from one location to another and transferring Xfinity services, how (far) the phone number can transfer, for instance my mom moved several years ago from one end of town to the other, different zip code, carried her EMTA and still has the same number. I do know the years I worked there it was governed by "rate center", but that may no longer be true. I expect that if you plug the EMTA into an active outlet and dial the number assigned it should ring ?

You would need to have your services transferred over with your phone number ported to the new location. It would depend on your move if we would be able to keep your same number. Are you staying within the same state?

Thank you so much for that additional information and congrats on your upcoming move! Once you have your move finalized we would be happy to check on the new address to ensure that your number can be ported over to your new location. You must establish service in the same geographical area (rate center) as your old residence. Comcast cannot port phone numbers across rate center boundaries. While this isn't a port per se, it's a transfer of existing service, I think the answer is the same as it was when I was there, it can travel inside the "Rate Center" but beyond that it requires a different number, I remember someone trying to move from zip 29464 to 29455 and expecting to keep his number and although the same county, it was a different rate center. This question was more hypothetical at this time, but thanks !!!
