porting xfinity landline to another carrier

My mother passed away and I want to port her landline voip from xfinity to another carrier, so I can keep the phone number for a bit longer. How do I do this? Her house is being sold and I need to end her xfinity service and was told the porting needs to happen before I end service.

kemb73 Hello! Thank you for reaching out to us here on our Community Forum. We are very sorry to hear of your loss, and we extend our condolences to you and your loved ones while you navigate through this difficult time.

Normally, with porting a number to another provider, you just need to let the company know that there is a phone number you need to port, and it's taken care of through them. We handle it the same way if someone is bringing their service to us. You will want to port the number to them well before the phone line is disconnected so that it has enough time to carry over.

Once you get that taken care of, we'll be able to assist you in disconnecting the account. Hope this helps!

I am unable to port my Xfinity landline number to a Tracfone.  TracFone support gets an error message that my account number should have only 9 digits.  I've spent 3 hours on the phone with both companies today.  TracFone tells me to call Xfinity, and Xfinity tells me to call Tracfone.  They both refuse to talk to each other.  Please help.

Good afternoon Jeanne347 we can look into this further for you.

Please send us a direct chat message with your full name and complete service address to “Xfinity Support”. To do so, click on the chat icon located at the top right of this forums page.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or  https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window and press Enter to send it.
