Unsure if its safe to cancel my previous service provider after porting. Previous service provider claims no port was done.
I ported a landline number from CenturyLink to Xfinity VOIP service recently, I have verified three times with Xfinity live chat agents that the port has been completed. This seems to be true as my ported number is working through Xfinity.
When I proceed to verify the cancellation of my pervious service from CenturyLink, I was told that there "was" a porting request but canceled by Xfinity. CenturyLink mentioned that I would lose the ported phone number if I were to cancel my service?? I'm not sure what to do at this point as there appears to be discrepancy between the providers. CenturyLink mentioned that unless Comcast porting department contacts them of the port completion, the ported number would revert itself.. ? Is it safe to cancel my previous service provider(CenturyLink) without losing my phone number?
I would appreciate any help I can get to resolve this issue.
