Xfinity Comcast - Adding landline without telephone jack

Hello, I'm looking to add landline service.  I already have an analog telephone handset that I'd like to use but my modem doesn't have a telephone jack to hook it into, and my level of the apartment does not appear to have house wiring.  Is it still possible to connect to Xfinity voice without completely replacing the router/modem?

Their Voice home phone service requires a compatible modem, gateway, or eMTA device with phone jacks. See the "Voice/Telephone enabled" devices on https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices and on the "All Compatible Devices" PDF linked near the near the bottom of that page (at the moment it points to https://assets.xfinity.com/assets/dotcom/projects/cix-4997_compatible-devices/2025.03.25 Full List of Compatible Devices.pdf, but this changes from time to time).

Hi @user_ene10
@BruceW shared some fantasitic information that I would reccomend taking advantage of in regard to your next decision. Please make sure to visit the  https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices website first and select the "all compatible devices" hot link near the bottom of the screen to access the compatible devices PDF once you select your address and speed plan. Reason being is that the PDF does get updated as compatibility may change with particular devices.

If you would like I can also take a look to see if we have any promotions that involve a discounted or free Xfinity modem for a period of time. Please send me a direct message with your with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account, I'd be more than happy to take a look for you.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:
Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "Direct Messaging" icon
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there
- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list
- An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it.

An ATA is typically used to allow POTS telephones to work with an VOIP provider. Comcast/Xfinity's home phone service is VOIP between the Voice modem or gateway device in your home and Comcast, but they don't allow customer-owned VOIP devices to access their home phone system directly.
