Xfinity Voice but lacking Telephone Port
I have xfinity internet 1.2GB service and have my own gateway/modem/router (single unit: Arris SBG8300). I'm trying to add xfinity voice but my gateway doesn't have a phone port. Looking for a way to add a phone port without replacing my current gateway/router/modem. One option is to put another modem (with a phone port) in parallel with my current one (but not sure if Comcast allows 2 modems without a large extra charge). Another option is to put a device behind my current gateway (such as a Grandstream GS-HT802 ethernet to telephone adapter or simply a secondary router with a phone port) to give me a phone port. But I can't seem to figure out how I'd configure the device for xfinity voice (SIP server settings, etc.) All of the setup instructions seem to assume I'm using a combined gateway/modem/router with telco port provided by Xfinity. Any help is appreciated.

Hello, @bhantman. When you have internet and phone service, we do offer the ability to run a second modem. The second modem would be disabled for internet connection, but allow the phone port to be active. We also offer the option to rent a modem through us solely for phone service while using your own modem for internet. Would you be interested in exploring this option further? As for the set up with the Grandstream device or other 3rd party equipment, I am not seeing information on if this is a viable set up to work with our network. That would be something that would need to be researched outside of our support, as we do not provide support for 3rd party equipment set up.

Your link is yet another example of the drawbacks of using link shorteners here in the Forums.
If you had just posted the actual link, you might have noticed that it was all wrong. "https://comca.st/3JTBV9q" expands to a Reddit link, for sending a message to a Reddit user. You and the OP are posting in "forums.xfinity.com", NOT Reddit. "ModMail" likewise is a Reddit term that has no meaning in these Forums.
Please, please, please be aware of the support channel you are using and post the correct instructions for that channel.
