Xfinity Voice rings once then stops

Randomly my Xfinity Voice will ring once, then stop. Pick up the phone it is usually static. Hang up, I can dial, call from my cell, etc. It seems to happen in spurts, goes crazy for a few days, then stops doing it. Nothing in Caller ID or call logs online because it rings only once.

Currently have ONE wired phone connected to see what happens.

I called Xfinity multiple times when it happened before, unplugged phones, everything, then it stopped. No new phones or devices plugged into the phone wiring in the house.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks

Tom

Hello and thank you for posting here with this concern, this is rather odd especially with the call not being identified on your caller ID. Can you tell us how frequently this occurs? Is this a daily thing with your phone? Do you get the rouge calls during the day or night?

It is random, happened a few months ago for a week, then stopped. This time it was two days. Only one ring, so no caller ID sent, which occurs between the 1st and 2nd ring. It has stopped now.

Support is near useless, called, reset the modem, which I had done numerous times myself. Was told it was escalated to Tier 2 support on 11-17-22, its 11-20 now. Never heard from them, and no help now because it's stopped.

I would like to look into further and see what is going on with a tier 2 ticket. Can you please send us a DM to begin?

Click "Sign In" if necessary
• Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon
• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
• Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
• Press Enter to send it

I no longer work for Comcast.

Not really inclined to waste my time since Xfinity can't even call me back. I just wish I had other options, but only Xfinity is available in my area.

This post popped up when I searched on the same issue. I seem to get these phantom phone rings about once per calendar quarter. I have restarted the gateway to no avail. I have eliminated the premises wiring as an issue by having only a single wired phone plugged directly into the gateway. Only correlating factor is the issue seems to occur when it's raining outside.  Sounds like a system issue to me. My solution is to disconnect my phones until the weather clears up......
