Internet Essentials from Xfinity brings affordable, high-speed internet to your home. It gives you greater access to homework, jobs, healthcare and benefits, resources to learn, and more.
Signing up is easy and fast at apply.internetessentials.com.
You may qualify if you are eligible for public assistance programs like:
- National School Lunch Program
- Housing Assistance
- Medicaid
- SNAP
- SSI
- and others
You may also qualify based on your income.
Note for New York residents: You may qualify through additional eligibility options (eligibility or enrollment in senior citizen or disability rent increase exemptions or a recipient of an affordability benefit from a utility).

How to apply
Step 1: Qualify.
You may qualify if you:
- Live in an area with Xfinity Internet service.
- Qualify for assistance programs.
- New York residents have other eligibility options.
- Have a household income at, or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Income limits are based on household size. Your household size is the number of people who live with you and share income and bills. It applies even if the people in the household are not related.

- Have not had Xfinity Internet within the last 90 days.
- Have no outstanding debt to Comcast that is less than one year old.
Step 2: Submit your application online.
- Go to internetessentials.com or es.internetessentials.com, or call 1-855-8-INTERNET (1-855-846-8376).
- Complete the application online.
- A Spanish language option is available to select at the top.
- For languages other than English or Spanish, most web browsers settings offer translation options:
- Google Chrome: Right-click on the Internet Essentials application and select Translate to and choose your language (desktop only).
- You can also select the three-dot menu icon > Translate (desktop and mobile).
- Microsoft Edge: Right-click on the Internet Essentials application and select Translate to and choose your language (desktop only).
- You can also select the three-line menu icon > Translate (mobile only).
- Safari: Tap the menu icon in the address bar > Translate to and select language (desktop and mobile).
- If the translation option is not available, you may need to update Safari extensions.
- Note: Other browsers may also offer translation features.
- Or, call Xfinity at 1-844-389-4681 for more translation support options.
- Speak with a bilingual (Spanish) agent or request an application in Spanish be mailed to you.
- Agents can connect you with an interpreter if assistance is needed in any other language.
- Google Chrome: Right-click on the Internet Essentials application and select Translate to and choose your language (desktop only).
- Choose Internet Essentials or Internet Essentials Plus.
- If you have a Sponsorship or Promo code, enter it in the field provided and leave the Internet Essentials Plus selection set to No.
- Upgrades to Internet Essentials Plus covered by a sponsor will be done after checkout.
- Add the personal information during application for the eligibility check.
- If further verification is required for eligibility, an application will be mailed or emailed to you.
- You should get the application within three to five business days by mail or one day by email.
- If there’s an issue with your Social Security number (SSN), you may get a text message (if you’ve consented to get texts) to verify your identity.
- Or you may need to upload a selfie displaying a valid ID online to complete approval.
- If you’re filling out the application online and need to submit eligibility documents, you can take a picture of it with your phone and upload within the application to submit for review.*
- You can save the application at any time and come back when ready.
- You can get to your saved application by entering your last name and phone number.
- If further verification is required for eligibility, an application will be mailed or emailed to you.

Step 3: Get approved.
Xfinity will review your completed application and let you know by text, email, or mail if you are approved. If more documentation is needed, the fastest way is to take a picture via phone and upload it directly.
Once approved, you can set up an installation, or have a Getting Started kit shipped or pick one up from an Xfinity Retail Store. You’ll get a welcome letter with program details, terms, and conditions.
Step 4: Get online.
If approved, you could have an internet connection in five to seven business days. Use the guide included with your internet equipment to set up service.
