Can't dial extensions

When I call a number and need to dial an extension, none of the solutions work on my Samsung A54 (dial the number directly, hit the star and wait for the comma, etc., etc.). Samsung checked the phone and pronounced it in perfect shape. The only solution seems to be with Xfinity/Verizon. I have a friend who has a Galaxy phone and uses Verizon and has the same problem. What to do?

Hi there, @sl60 I'm very sorry to hear that you are having problems dialing an extension on your Samsung phone. Have you tried the following?

To dial extensions on your Samsung Galaxy A54, try using these methods, which should work for entering an extension during a call:

1. Use a Comma or Semicolon for Pauses:

When saving the number with the extension in your contacts or dialing it directly, insert a comma (,) or semicolon (;) between the main number and the extension.

A comma adds a short pause, while a semicolon prompts the phone to wait until you manually tell it to dial the extension.

Example:

With a Comma: Type the number as 1234567890,123 (where 123 is the extension).

With a Semicolon: Type the number as 1234567890;123.

After dialing, the phone should either automatically enter the extension (with a comma) or prompt you to enter it (with a semicolon).

2. Manually Enter the Extension After Connection:

If adding a comma or semicolon doesn’t work, try waiting for the call to connect to the main line, then manually enter the extension once the automated system prompts you.

3. Enable “Auto DTMF” if Available:

Go to Phone > Settings > Call settings, and check for an option like “Auto DTMF” (Dual-tone multi-frequency), which can make dialing extensions more seamless.

4. Try Using the Keypad During the Call:

Once the call connects, open the keypad (the dialer) during the call and type in the extension manually. This often works when pre-entered extensions aren’t recognized.
