Must Turn Off Xfinity Cellular Data to Send Messages with Photos When At Home On Xfinity WiFi.

We have Xfinity Mobile for our Phones.   We have Xfinity home Wifi for our internet.   The wife says, "Allen, send me those 5 photos you took today."  I open Messaging on my Samsung S25, attach the 5 photos, and send them to her phone.  She's sitting on the other side of the room. After 10 minutes, she doesn't get them.  I toggle Xfinity mobile data to "OFF", leaving Xfinity Wifi turned on/connected.  Within 20 seconds, all 5 photos arrive on her phone.  Strangely, Xfinity Mobile won't send the photos, and it won't let my Xfinity home wifi send them either.  This has happened enough times over the past 3 years I've been an Xfinity Mobile customer, for me to know exactly what to do when photos don't send in a reasonable amount of time, while I'm at home.

The Purpose of this post is to let the community know that if you have trouble sending photos/videos via messaging, and your Xfinity Mobile is on while you're also connected to Xfinity Wifi (or maybe any Wifi?), try turning off your Xfinity Mobile.  IT MIGHT WORK FOR YOU TOO!  👍

P.S. June 5, 2026: Had to turn off Xfinity Mobile Data again today, so our Xfinity home wifi would send photos via text-messaging from my Samsung S25-Ultra to my wife's phone, as she sat here in the family room with me.

Since standard picture messages (MMS) require cellular data to transmit, turning on mobile data is normally required. If your Samsung Galaxy S25 only sends photos when cell data is off, your mobile network's Access Point Names (APN) or Wi-Fi calling preferences are likely misconfigured.
1. Reset Your APN Settings
Incorrect APN settings can cause the phone to route multimedia data improperly.
  1. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks.
  2. Tap Access Point Names.
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right corner and select Reset to default.
  4. Restart your phone and ensure Mobile Data is turned ON.
2. Check Wi-Fi Calling Priorities
When connected to Wi-Fi, your phone might try to send MMS over the wireless router instead of your mobile network, which fails if your carrier doesn't support MMS over Wi-Fi.
  1. Open the Phone app, tap the three dots in the top right, and select Settings.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi Calling.
  3. Toggle the setting between Wi-Fi preferred and Mobile network preferred to see which one allows photos to send smoothly.
