user_a9lq8, thank you for reaching out through Xfinity Forums. I am sorry to hear you're having trouble with the RCS texting. Try the following and let us know how it goes:

  • Toggle RCS: Open Google Messages, go to your profile icon > Message settings > RCS chats, turn it off, and turn it back on.
  • Check Data: Ensure you have a stable mobile data or Wi-Fi connection. RCS does not work over standard cellular voice channels.
  • Default App: Make sure Google Messages is selected as your default SMS application.

I have AGAIN begun having this issue also. I have been with Xfinity Mobile a little over 6 months after 10+ years with VZW. Will definitely be returning to VZW in January!

Same issue has started with me. Read through the forums and this isn't a new issue. Has a fix been found yet?

Good evening user_j5scaq thank you so much for reaching out here on our Forums and adding your voice to the conversation! RCS messaging is a third-party application that is not managed by Xfinity. There are however, some basic troubleshooting steps that can be taken to try and get this working:

Check Basic Settings
• Make sure your Wi-Fi or mobile data is turned on and working.
• Open Google Messages settings, tap your profile icon, go to RCS chats, and verify the toggle is turned on.
• Set Google Messages as your default SMS app

Clear App Cache and Data
• Open your phone Settings, go to Apps, and find Google Messages.
• Tap Storage & Cache, then select Clear Cache (and Clear storage if clearing cache does not work).
• Do the same for the Carrier Services app if you use Android.
• Restart your phone and turn RCS back on in the app settings.
