Xfinity app failing to work
[Introduction]
I spoke to Xfinity technical support over on the phone from their direct line: (844) 823-8902.
For anyone wondering, this phone number is their direct line. You will skip the automatic voicemail robot but will still have to wait a couple of minutes for an available representative to get with you.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention they wouldn't let me proceed without asking for the 'NEW' Wi-Fi password even after I told the lady that's a security concern and a liability. By you knowing what my next Wi-Fi password is, you're susceptible to becoming liable with my personal, private information. The main reason security breaches occur is because the representative is the one that is pushed to the edge when someone bribes them with a large sum of money to leak a Wi-Fi password or Network password to some random buyer, like a broker who doesn't like me for unknown reasons.
[The Problem]
The Xfinity App via Google Play Store, running on Android 15, with the latest version of Google Play Store & Google Play Store Services; The Xfinity App is simply not working. My network was compromised by an unknown device connecting to my network through outdated Xfinity protocol. The protocol comes from how the Xfinity Technician set up our network, specifically our Wi-Fi modem, to run on: WPA3 Personal Transition security protocol. What this means is that the modem will allow old/new devices to connect to the Wi-Fi network via WPA2 & WPA3 security protocols. If you're not familiar with what they are; WPA3 is the latest security protocol with WPA2 security protocol being last generation, or just simply put, "Outdated technology" when it comes to security and even privacy. And so the Technician was trained to setup Wi-Fi despite knowing that WPA2 is capable of introducing security breaches, due to the technology being less secure and out of date. Though despite this, there's nothing you can do. Every technician that gets sent from Xfinity will avoid THIS, as the #1 probable cause to security breach/data leaks, but this is 100% the problem. And much worse? The app won't even let me re-configure the modem to run on WPA3 Personal <--- which is the best SECURITY PROTOCOL THE XFINITY MODEM CAN RUN ON... but the app says "Something went wrong" EVERY SINGLE TIME I ATTEMPT TO CHANGE ANYTHING RELATED TO THE MODEM.
Basically... I am [Edited: "Language"] because the APP, which technical support told me to uninstall and then install (to fix it when it doesn't work), DOESN'T WANT TO WORK. IT NEVER WORKS. And you ask for help from Xfinity and they just tell you to reinstall the stupid app 100 times. Oh yeah and they want to proceed to schedule a technician to come fix the problem. I KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS... THE PROBLEM IS THAT YOUR APP IS NOT WORKING. I don't need a technician to invade my security & privacy when the problem is RIGHT THERE.
I am here to ask what [Edited: "Language"] am I supposed to do next? The modem is running on WPA2 and I need to upgrade it to WPA3 Personal + change SSID and password because both of those have been breached by the unknown device. Which means it won't be like, I give it about a week, before my entire neighborhood knows my SSID and Password. Oh yeah did I mention the xfinity app isn't working? It's not letting me make changes. Me... The ADMIN of my internet can't change the SSID, Password, or Security protocol.
HA...Ha...Ha.

Hey there user_f0cey4, thanks for reaching out through our community forums! I'm sorry you've run into so many problems trying to make changes through the Xfinity App! You've come to the right place for assistance! We'll still want to see what we can do to get the app working properly for you, but you should be able to make changes through the WiFi Settings page on the Xfinity website. Can you give that a shot and let us know if it allows you to make those changes?
