Jocelyn04011 Hello and thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forums. We understand how frustrating it is not to be able to text after switching from Verizon. This is a very common issue that happens when your phone number transfer (port) is complete for calls but not yet for texting services (SMS/MMS).
The fix almost always involves clearing old network settings left over from Verizon.
Here are the easy-to-follow steps to troubleshoot and resolve your Xfinity Mobile texting problem:
1. The Essential Network Reset This is the most effective fix. It clears outdated Verizon settings and forces your phone to pull the correct Xfinity Mobile network configurations.
Device Type Steps iPhone Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Android Go to Settings > System (or General Management) > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth.
Export to Sheets After the reset, you must power your phone completely OFF for 60 seconds, then turn it back on.
2. Check iMessage / Advanced Messaging If you are using an iPhone, the iMessage service can sometimes hold onto the previous carrier's data:
Go to Settings > Messages.
Toggle iMessage OFF.
Power your phone OFF for five minutes.
Power the phone back on and Toggle iMessage ON again.
If you have an Android, you can try temporarily turning RCS Chat features (often found in your message app settings) off and back on.
3. If the steps above don't work, the issue is on our network side, meaning the SMS/MMS feature needs to be manually reprovisioned on your line.
You need to contact our specialized Mobile Support Team directly and request this specific fix:
What to Say: "I've already done the network reset, and I still can't text. Please re-provision the SMS/MMS feature on my account; I believe the database didn't fully update after my port from Verizon."
Contact Us:
* Call or Text: 1 (888) 936-4968
