Denon vs XG4
Like others, I finally figured out that you have to disable the CEC in the X box to prevent it from freezing when you switch inputs.
Is this a Denon or X problem? By disabling the CEC in the X box, turning off the X no longer turns off the tv and some functions on the Denon box remote no longer function. Could we finally get an update or some real fix to this problem? I am using the EARC port on the receiver and the tv.

The CEC issue is not universal between Denon and the XG1v4. I have one room with an X3800H and another with an S640H. The X3800H room freezes with both X1 boxes. The S640H works fine with both of them. So, it world appear that the S3800H sends a command that the X1 misinterprets when switching inputs or powering down while the S640H must send a slightly different command that the X1 can handle without freezing.
CEC on X1 is pretty limited. It can power equipment on/off and tell it to switch inputs. Personally, I pair my Xfinity remote to my TV and AVR for power and volume, so no need for CEC. And I use another remote for functions like input switching.
I think it very unlikely Xfinity will address this issue. It only happens with some receivers.

Hello @WD19, thanks for taking the time to leave a post. I can understand how frustrating this may be, especially when disabling CEC solves the freezing but breaks other functions. This freezing issue arises from a conflict between the Xfinity X1 box and Denon receivers, specifically in how they negotiate CEC over HDMI. At this time, there isn't a fix in place, but your feedback can be escalated to our engineering team for awareness.
