Slow connection

My cable service is slow to connect, especially with streaming services. My tv upstairs doesn’t have this issue. What gives?

Thank you for reaching out to us on our community forums @user_q2nf4w! That's definitely interesting, especially since your upstairs TV isn't experiencing the same behavior. Is the upstairs TV a smart TV, using a Roku, Firestick, etc. to watch the apps or does it also use a cable box?

When you say it's slow to connect, are you referring to both live TV channels and OnDemand content too?

How long is the delay?

The upstairs tv is on a cable box as well. The connection is fast, normal. The downstairs tv connection is slower. Much, much slower on streaming services, particularly Amazon Prime.

user_q2nf4w Hmm, let's have you try restarting the X1 TV Box to see if that helps with the slow connection it seems to have. Please follow these steps:

1. Using the X1 Remote - Press the A button (the triangle button) on your remote.
2. Highlight Help and press OK.
3. Select Restart and confirm by selecting Restart again.

See how that works for you, and if there is no improvement, please let us know.

So I restarted the cable box as you suggested. There was a marginal improvement, and maybe I’m being generous with that description. Still not close to how fast my upstairs tv connects. Maybe I need a technician to come to my home and check it out?

user_q2nf4w We'll be happy to take a closer look at the signal we're sending you. Let's see if we can improve it before settling on a technician visit. You would likely be charged $100 for the visit, so we'll be happy to see if we can prevent that. When you can, please send a Direct Message with your full name and address.

 Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Direct Message" icon (upper right corner of this page)
  • Click the "Start a New Conversation" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send your message
