Xfinity Remote app replacement? What does Xfinity have that gives me these functional capabilities.

It's been 6 days and the capabilities that the xfinity remote had are greatly missed. How can I get the following functionalities from the current Xfinity offerings?

1. Browse Guide without using the TV screen which disturbs others in the room who are watching the TV.

2. View scheduled recordings without using the TV screen which disturbs other in the room who are watching the TV.

3. Clean up recorded programs freeing up space without using the TV screen which disturbs others in the room who are watching the TV.

4. View list of recorded programs without using the TV screen which disturbs others in the room who are watching the TV.

5. Schedule programs to record without using the TV screen which disturbs others in the room who are watching the TV.

6. Provide a key pad to enter a network name to navigate the guide without using the TV screen which disturbs others in the room who are watching the TV.

7. Delete programs from the scheduled program list without using the TV screen which disturbs others in the room who are watching the TV.

8. Schedule a program to record when you are not at home.

9. Browse the guide when you are not at home

10. Browse recorded programs when you are not at home.

11. Browse scheduled recordings when you are not at home.

12.  All of the above done easily on a smart phone.

If you can't please bring back the remote app.   yes I tried the web remote app clunky with very little functionality.   And I would have been fired if I ever tried to deliver something like that as a finished product.

user_tf5uem Please go here (http://remote.xfinity.com/) to view the Xfinity Web Remote. Please understand that not all features are available through the web remote as were available in the remote app. We understand the change is difficult to have to adapt to and we are hopeful we will be able to release something even better in the future.

@XfinityBenjaminM This is not an answer to my question.  The poorly and inadequately designed web based remote app at (http://remote.xfinity.com/) provides none of the 12 functionalities I am looking for.  And the fact you try to send me there implies you attempted to answer my post without reading it. The last line in my post is "yes I tried the web remote app clunky with very little functionality.   And I would have been fired if I ever tried to deliver something like that as a finished product. " By that statement obviously I have already checked it out before I posted my question.  The web apps  biggest feature appears to be it's ability to waste people's time in checking it out and then finding is woefully lacking.

@user_tf5uem I miss the remote app as well. I will hare your feedback in regard to the features. If you're not familiar with our Xfinity App it's free to download. After you log in with your username and password you can click on the account tab and scroll down to submit feedback. You may enter as much as you like.

Are there any additional account concerns we can assist you with?

Why is there no notification of the app retiring. Given what the original poster said, xfinity has put out an inferior product and just expects that everything will be okay. I started using comcast in 2007 and was paying about $45/month. Now I'm paying over $150 for the most basic of packages, the bare minimum. I feel like a victim of theft. I need to look for alternatives.

Just another reason I signed up for Xfinity service gone. I've been having issues with SD formatting being windowboxed since 1/28/2025, and this will be the second time a tech has been sent to the house to waste their and my time to troubleshoot a backend issue. Xfinity DOESN'T care about their customers, just profit. What could it cost to simply continue the app as it was? Were there security issues with it that they may not want to admit to? Give a good, solid, factual reason for discontinuing it.

user_xldu7p I understand your frustration and disappointment regarding the SD formatting issues you've been experiencing, and the upcoming technician visit. We deeply regret that this has led to a feeling that we don't care about our customers. Please know that this is not the experience we want for you, and we are truly sorry for the inconvenience and wasted time you've endured. We recognize that having a technician visit multiple times for the same issue is incredibly disruptive, and we want to assure you that we are committed to resolving this for you as quickly and efficiently as possible. We value your time and appreciate your patience.

Regarding the SD formatting issue, we understand the "windowboxing" effect can be very frustrating. In many cases, video display settings can be adjusted to improve the viewing experience.

Before your next technician visit, we encourage you to try the following steps to adjust your X1 Video Display settings:

To access Device Settings:

  • Press the xfinity button on your remote.
  • Scroll over to Settings (the gear icon) and select it.
  • Highlight Device Settings and select it.
  • Then, navigate to Video Display and select it.
  • Select Video Output Resolution. On this screen, choose your desired resolution and press OK.
  • Once done, you can also toggle Zoom between Full and None.
  • Press Exit to return.

You can also find detailed instructions and visual aids here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-video-display

We understand that you've also expressed concerns about the changes to the app. We strive to provide the best possible service and sometimes updates are necessary for various reasons, including improving performance, enhancing security, and evolving with technology. We are taking your feedback seriously and will share it with the appropriate teams for review.
