told that need to update equipment or cannot access On Demand

I emailed a request to update the equipment, but only received one cable box when I  need two. If I DO NOT UPDATE, WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO WATCH XFINITY CHANNELS? LIKE HALLMARK, QVC, FXX?
