Complaint Regarding Unauthorized Credit Inquiry

Dear Xfinity customer support team,

I am writing to formally protest an unauthorized hard credit inquiry made on my account during a recent customer service interaction.

I understand that I am eligible for one unlimited mobile line as a complimentary service with my home internet. However, after checking on the app, I already found out that my iPhone is incompatible with Xfinity Mobile.

Despite my explicit refusal of the mobile service - stating that my device (IMEI) was already confirmed as incompatible and that I had a plan with another carrier- the representative insisted on "verifying" a line. I was sent an SSN link without any prior disclosure on consent that a credit check would be performed.

Predictably, the activation filed due to the device incompatibility I had already flagged. Now, I have received a credit inquiry notice which is both unnecessary and damaging.

I demand that Xfinity contact the credit bureau to remove this inquiry from my credit report.

I look forward to your prompt confirmation that this has been resolved.

Thanks.

@user_c741q5 I appreciate you making us aware of this hard inquiry that appears in your credit history. This is only used to see if we're able to increase your number of DPP-eligible lines and total dollar limit based on the results (with your consent). You may find more information regarding credit checks by visiting this link https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/eligibility-faq. I would be more than happy to review your account to see how we can help.
