free 20GB/mo of prioritized data?

this seems like a mistake. I got a text that I now have 20GB/mo of prioritized data on my xfinity mobile line.

It doesn't seem like a spammy text, no broken english, not from a weird email address, and its not asking me to click anything.

anybody get the same?

user_2eb788 Thank you for reaching out so we can answer your questions about the 20 GB of prioritized Xfinity Mobile data. Prioritized data means faster speeds and less buffering, especially in busy areas like concerts and sporting events. Our By The Gig customers can recieve up to 20 GB of prioritized data. This does not increase your monthly data allowance, and By The Gig customers will be subject to the same data usage rates.

Our Unlimited Xfinity Mobile customers have different thresholds of prioritized network data, depending on the unlimited tier they subscribe to.

umm, i'm sorry, that is not what the message means. Here is the actual full text of the message:

Xfinity Mobile: Great news! We are now giving you 20 GB/mo of prioritized data on this line at no extra cost, so you can get an even faster, more reliable connection. Just restart your phone and enjoy.

Txt help or stop
Msg&DataRatesMayApply

Any person reading this would understand this to mean that they now have an extra 20GB of prioritized data that they did not have before, and that using it would not incur any extra cost.

At best, this was a mistake message that Xfinity is not owning up to.

At worst, it is an attempt to trick users into using data above their plan and needing to pay more

user_2eb788 We do apologize that this seemed misleading, but I can assure you that it was not. Prioritized data means faster speeds and less buffering, especially in busy areas like concerts and sporting events. I also got this on all my phones, one of which is on an Unlimited plan. I would like to know what this even means. Do my by-the-gig phones now get 20GB/mo? What do they mean by "prioritized data"? Is this the bait part of the standard Comcast bait and switch?

I got the same text message today.   I just spoke with a representative at Xfinity Mobile and they said there is no change to my service plan and since there is no link should just be safe to delete.   Suggested that restarting the phone as the text says, shouldn't do anything to the data.

Hey there user_pfg7lk. It is just an informative text about the data for your mobile. Here is some additional information about the data. https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/how-does-by-the-gig-work

If the consumer protection services hadn't been gutted, I'd have filed a complaint. All 5 lines on my plan got a text saying that "we are now giving you 20 gb/mo of prioritized data on this line at no extra cost." But I separately got an email - only to me - saying that "your Unlimited lines" were upgraded at no cost. All 5 lines share a single gigabyte and I'm on the hook personally to pay any overage, and this conflicting messaging seems almost custom designed to get people to start using data thinking that it's free and then slam them with a giant bill. Particularly since 5 people were told direct to their phone that it's a 20gb/mo free-for-all and only 1 person got a message buried in their email that there was secretly a caveat.

The message said to restart the phone to receive the service. If we restarted, we should be entitled to the service that was offered.

Definitely a Consumer Protection violation

user_berl9e Thank you for reaching out. As others have posted, this link is helpful (https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/how-does-by-the-gig-work) to understand how 'By the Gig' and prioritized data works. You are still subject to your data plan and data overage charges. The benefit is that if you are away from home and using your data, you would be receiving the faster speeds with less buffering, but your data limits are still intact. Our Unlimited Xfinity Mobile customers have different thresholds of prioritized network data, depending on the unlimited tier they subscribe to.

Since Xfinity sent this email, everyone who received it should receive the "20GB at no additional charge". Not to give that service sounds like a Consumer Protection violation!

Yea..dream on..when does xfinity ever upgrade anything useful without a huge bump in $$$. It really means nothing unless you're in a high cell usage area and using free wifi.....then...supposedly you get "first dibs"...now if you're like me..the 1GB is all you get unless you pay for unlimited

One of the many reasons I will be leaving Xfinity!

Since I've joined, there have been a 20000% increase in price, customers service is laughable, and the sending messages of service they say I have but don't.

I can get unlimited talk & text, + 1 gig of data for way less!

@user_f4e228 The way they do it with Internet service is they raise your speed "at no cost to you", then raise the rates a year or so later. If you call them, you can get back to your previous data rate and cost, but it takes some work.

I agree completely that this email is super misleading and could easily lead someone to believe that their data cap has been raised.
