Trying to switch from a relative's plan to my own

I am currently under my mother in laws mobile plan with Xfinity. I want to get my own, and I have the deal for a free year. Me and my wife both have service through her. I want to switch, but I just want to see if I can still get the deal, or if there will be an issue. I tried doing it online and it gave me an error and said to try again later. 

I want to keep our current numbers, and I don't want her to release them if there will be an error activating phones on Xfinity that are being transfered to another Xfinity plan.

    • To split from a relative's Xfinity Mobile family plan and start your own, you must complete an Account Ownership Change. Both you (the new account owner) and the relative (the current account owner) must contact Xfinity Mobile customer support together. 
      Here is the exact step-by-step process to get it done: 
      1. Gather Your Details & Unlock Your Line 
      • Get your current relative to contact Xfinity Mobile by calling or texting 1-888-936-4968.
      • They will need to verify their identity and explicitly authorize the removal of your line and the release of your phone number.
      • Ask them to provide you with the account number and a Transfer PIN (or Account PIN), which you will need to activate your own account. 

      2. Verify Device & Financial Status 
      • Ensure your phone is fully paid off (if financed) so it can be released from their account.
      • Ask your relative to check if there are any remaining device balances or outstanding charges attached to your line on their current billing statement. 
      3. Set Up Your Own Account 
      • Reach out to Xfinity Mobile again (via chat, phone, or at an Xfinity Retail Store) to initiate the transfer of your line to your newly created profile.
      • You must have an active Xfinity residential Internet account to be eligible for Xfinity Mobile.
      • Provide the transfer PIN and your preferred payment details for your new standalone account. 

    • 4. Activate Your Phone 
      • Once the transfer is processed, Xfinity will provide you with a new eSIM or physical SIM card.
      • Install the new SIM or download the eSIM to your device and restart your phone to complete the switch.
