Security System Disarmed Send Email

I had to change the email address that this rule was using. However, when I try to edit the rule, it says "This rule was created using an older version of automation that is no longer supported. To make changes you'll need to select a new rule template." I have the same problem with the automation for "Security System Armed Send Email."

I am unable to find any new rule templates that will do these actions. Can someone explain how to accomplish this?

Hello @user_ed7bf6  and thank you for reaching out. I know how important it is to address your concern. Is this regarding your XFINITY home security system or your email address?

@XfinityMikeB This post is about my xfinity home security system and how to change the email address that the notices are sent to when I arm and dis-arm my system. Please note that I have changed the email address in my xfinity account to the correct new address but the notices continue to go to my old email address. I have spent hours on the phone talking with xfinity support. Five different support staff have told me to change my email address on my account and I keep telling them that I have already done that. I cannot find anyone that understands how to fix this problem.

When did you update the email address in the My Account app? It may take a couple of days for it to change on the back end.

I no longer work for Comcast.

Hi user_ed7bf6 -

There are a few places you can update contact information with us.  Our Automation rules that send e-mail notifications use the e-mail addresses that are listed in the Xfinity Home app (not the Xfinity app or My Account app).  To get to the correct place, launch the Xfinity Home app and tap "More" at the bottom.  Then select Settings, Contacts.  Scroll down to Automation contacts and make sure that the address you wish to send to is listed here. If not, click to Edit or Add a Contact.

There is a chance you'll need to recreate the Notification Rule after updating your contacts since your original rule was created using a legacy system.  To do this: in the Xfinity Home app, tap Automation at the bottom and click on the + in the upper-right corner to add a rule.  Tap on the Notifications tab at the top.  Scroll down and select "Notify me of Security System Activity." Here you can modify the type of notification from "Push Notification" to one of your Automation e-mail contacts, and choose other settings (like whether to receive notifications upon arming, disarming, and if the rule should be active on all days of the week.)  Click "Add" to save the rule and you should be set.

I hope that helps!
