Absurd delay for live sports on Xfinity in 2024
I understand every network is going to have a slight built in delay....
But Xfinity adds on another 45 to 60 seconds of delay specifically for live sports. I don't know if it's their feed, or the way they are processing their feed to bring it into the home, but something needs to change ASAP.
In this day and age of live information being so critical, It's hard to imagine that I will be watching a basketball game that is four or five baskets behind live action, with apps telling me a completely different game situation and score than what I am seeing on my TV.
I truly hope this can be addressed ASAP by Xfinity. There should not be a delay for live sports that is this long in 2024!
And yes, I have reset my set top boxes, I have recycled all the streaming boxes and nothing fixes this insane delay that Xfinity manufactures for their sports and other programs.

Thank you for reaching out to us @Brads5624! We work with broadcast networks, regional sports providers, and local TV station owners to expand the content available with our services. As a cable provider, we relay the signal sent by the networks. While it can be frustrating, it is common for live television to have a delay to prevent mistakes or unacceptable content from being broadcasted.

I am gong to contact an attorney tomorrow for a class action lawsuit because xfinity makes claims to watch live sports which are not live. [Edited: "Solicitation"]

I want to know why when I watch Phillies games there is a 10 - 15 second delay on the box vs the streaming app -- how is the streaming app ahead of the box?

Same here. We’re watching Euro 2024 finals and the Xfinity feed is a full 50 seconds behind my neighbor who has Verizon. So incredibly annoying that they are cheering way before us. Same thing happened with the NBA finals and Stanley Cup.

I am having the same problem too, for baseball it might be a full 60 to 90 seconds. I have a X1 box, was never an issue in the past. When I stream on my computer it is way ahead of the TV broadcast via the X1 box.

Add me to the list of Xfinity customers who are fed up with delays of a minute, sometimes more, when I’m watching a game. I’m tired of friends texting me about a play long before I see it, and really tired of getting sports alerts from an app telling me the end of a tight game before I see it. It’s ridiculous. I’ve reset boxes many times. It does nothing. This is awful.

Greetings. I ran a live sports test today. My dad, who has Satelite Direct TV, should have been behind Live Cable but was 22 seconds ahead of my Xfinity cable, which was two plays in football.
My other friend has YouTube TV, which is streaming, and he was 18 seconds ahead of me. It's hard to talk to family and friends during games and have notifications on because Xfinity is so delayed.
It was like this last footbalk season and nothing has changed.

All I know is that they keep telling people to send a message with details to support and NOTHING gets fixed.

Had no idea that the problem was not just me. Insane to see streaming ahead of cable TV from the same provider. And yet the responses from Comcast employees here just ignore this.

This is not an isolated, single customer issue. This is a Xfinity system issue. "Live" sports on Xfinity is showing nearly a minute behind actual live. I have a friend with FiOS who calls me about Phillies plays that I have not seen yet. I'm at least one, and often plays behind. Verizon is subject to the same network delays as Comcast, but something different is going on with Xfinity. And, not just sports. The stock market closing bell on CNBC is nearly a minute behind the actual closing bell. For customers paying top, top dollar, this is unacceptable.

And their response will be to ask you to contact them by DM. And then do nothing.

Somehow the delay in live sports for Xfinity has gotten WORSE.
Watching baseball, my MLB scoreboard on my phone shows 2 outs and I am not even out of commercial to start the inning. This NEEDS to be addressed.
Who do we contact? The chief experience officer??

Customer after customer, here and on other threads, has reported this issue, and the answer is almost always to submit a direct message, as if no one else had posted the problem. It's maddening.
