Arris XG1v4

I've recently received an Arris XG1v4 box as a replacement for an older, malfunctioning box, but the new box is horrible to work with.  It seems like the sensor field is so narrow that if you don't hold your remote within the right area, which is the width of a silver dollar, there is no reaction from the box at all.  It there a way to maximise the effectiveness of the remote with the box?

Hello there, @user_udyv4x. We are glad to see the new cable box is functioning as a replacement for the older box. If your TV supports the format, be sure to check out some programs in 4K as that format really makes the picture come to life right on your screen! Our Xfinity Voice remotes are infrared equipped meaning you do not need to have the remote in line of sight of the cable box to be able to operate it. Once the remote is pair successfully, you can be in another room and still operate the XG1v4.

If you're having difficulties with the remote functioning, what sort of troubleshooting steps have you taken from your end? We would recommend replacing the batteries and seeing that the current ones are operating at low power. There are times when the remotes are sitting in storage for an ample amount of time and the batteries that came with the remote have lost their juice. Attempting to unpair and re-pair the remote to the cable box can resolve some communication issues between the box and the remote as well. You can find the instructions on how to get that accomplished by looking up our remote guide. Select the remote you currently have and it has a few drop downs to select like which TV brand and what you're looking to accomplish.
