connection question

I currently have xfinity internet with a xfi gateway. There are two coax cables from the street coming in, one goes to an 8 way splitter and one goes to a power supply. There is a coax going from the 8 way splitter to the gateway.  I am going to be adding tv to my service. my question is this, do i connect the tv box to the current 8 way splitter, or do i need to split the signal before it goes to the current splitter.

Thank you for connecting with us here, @user_n8qfdr, about your connection concerns. You've reached the right team for assistance, and we're happy to help. It sounds like you have a very busy connection with the 8-way splitter. Generally, that's where you would connect the TV coaxial cable as well. Is the 8-way an amplifier or a standard passive 8-way? Do you have the option to use another splitter with fewer ports for the new connection? We have amazing techs who could also come out to do a professional installation and be able to adjust the setup if needed for you.

not sure it its amplified or not, it is a commscope sv8g, the only thing connected to it is the xfi modem. i want to connect the x1 tv box to it, that is only 1 more connection..  splitter was installed by xfinity tech when he hooked up my intenet..

@user_n8qfdr Oh, that's a relief. I thought all the ports were busy. You're welcome to connect your TV coax there. Did you get your TV added already? I'd be happy to help if you haven't already. We could do that if you send me a Direct Message with your full name and service address. I look forward to your reply.

@user_n8qfdr Oh, but the order was placed. Good to know. I'll be glad to follow up with you tomorrow to see how the installation went, and to check if anything is needed. Otherwise, if anything is needed before then, just message us here on this same thread.
