If I start replacing my HD boxes with the wireless 4K Xi6 boxes will it affect....?

my ability to stream movies and sporting events without buffering.

Let’s say right now I have 4 HD boxes, but I upgrade all my tv's to 4k. If I get these Dolby vision capable Xi6 boxes, I see there is no coaxial cable port and I have to connect the box either with an ethernet cord, or wireless to my router.

My thought is that I may run into potential problems down the line because these boxes are taking up my modems/routers "bandwidth" in a way the old fashioned boxes never did via the coaxial cable connection.

I'd like to make the leap to all 4K boxes, but I certainly don't want buffering or pixelated video as a result of anything in the chain getting overloaded.

I am aware that using these boxes to watch regular cable channels or "on demand" does not count towards any data cap, but since I am connecting via ethernet (or wireless) it tells be that something is being routed through my router, and I would appreciate clarification.

Thank you

Hey @westwayneguy88888, Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience regarding the Xfinity Video services. I would be more than happy to offer my assistance looking into this further for you.

Many factors will come into play such as bandwidth, wireless strength and more. Also, the Internet apps would still use the Internet service so bandwidth and network connectivity could potentially cause issues. You would also need to keep one main set-top box to be able to use up to 3 Xi companion set-top boxes.

Tell me more about the limit of these boxes because in reality right now I have one 4K hardwired DVR box and I have two of the wireless boxes and I’m thinking about adding two or three more of the wireless boxes and is that gonna cause a bandwidth issue if I’m also doing some streaming

As long as you have the bandwidth, the wireless boxes should be able to perform as expected. The Wireless TV Box acts as a wired box when utilizing standard TV Box features, such as live broadcast, Video on Demand, pay-per-view (PPV), and Guide. However, Internet apps like Netflix, Pandora, and YouTube will continue to count toward your data usage.

You can get a standard wireless box or a wireless device that has 4K, as you do now. That would be a good option if you have a TV that isn't 4K but you still want a wireless option.

i understand what does or does not count towards data usage,

My question is about having 4-5 of these wireless/ethernet boxes and will it clog up my router bandwidth (even if it doesn't count towards data cap via xfinity) - causing things like my PC internet to lag, or my iphone to be slow when accessing the internet
