Infinite 4K Notification Loop on Non-4K Hardware - Software Bug.
My non-4K X1 box is triggering a 'Watch in 4K' prompt on the USA channel. When I hit OK, it shows an error (XRE-03131), but then immediately re-triggers the 4K prompt again. This creates an infinite loop that makes the TV unusable. This is a logic bug in the X1 software—the hardware check should happen before the notification. Please escalate to the engineering team.

Hello @user_8xg7f0, thank you for taking the time to leave a post. Sorry to hear that you are encountering issues with your non-4k X1 box. I know how frustrating that can be. When you have a moment, can you please check whether Prefer Best Available Resolution is turned on for your X1 box? Here’s how to do it: Press the Xfinity button on your remote to open the on-screen menu. Highlight Settings (the gear icon) and press OK. Select Preferences, then choose General. Find Prefer Best Available Resolution and press OK to toggle it off. Press Exit to finish. This will disable the auto-tuning feature for 4K channels.
