Limit channels in up/down navigation

Elderly father with dementia. I need the up down channel navigation on the remote to be limited to favorites. Dad can't use the channel guide. Only the channel up/down makes sense to him. I need this navigation limited to favorites so that he isn't bombarded with pay and alternate language channels. He only needs about 20 or so channels to be available.

Use your remote and push "guide" until you see options. One will be "Favorites".

@MikeB39A thank you. I have done that. Getting to and navigating the guide are beyond my father. Using the up/down channel buttons on the remote (like the up/down volume buttons) are not. Unfortunately using the up/down channel buttons on the remote cycles through all channels not just favorites.

Settings/Preferences is where you can set the the Guide to start in Favorites.  But, if you then press Guide multiple times, the view will change from Favorites.  Not aware of a way to lock it into just one view.

Yes, the guide starts in favorites. However the up/down channel buttons on the remote cycle through all channels.

user_48gc21 It doesn't look like that feature is available in that way. My apologies. But It's a good recommendation and I will pass it along. We welcome any feedback that can help improve our customer's experience. What kind of remote control do you have? Is it a voice remote? The next best thing would be to get to the channel through voice command. Have you tried that?

@XfinityDilary again, elderly father with dementia. He has trouble searching for words much less knowing what channel he wants to watch. Just needs to be able to simply cycle through a limited group of channels using a single button.

user_48gc21 I am happy to hear your father has someone like you to assist him. Although we don't have a function that is exactly like that with just the up and down buttons. What we do have is the option to set up the guide to just look at the favorite channels. I don't know what remote you have but in most cases if you follow these steps you can set your guide to just favorites. Click the guide button twice> go right until you reach the star> click enter. That should set up the guide to just the favorite channels. I hope this helps while we improve and hopefully add the feature you suggested.

Really?  I've never used Favorites and will try it when back to my TV.  But, that would be different from a filter like HD Channels where the navigation keys only show channels in HD.

But, the channel keys may very well work differently.  Probably not tied to the Favorites subset in the guide.

Yes.  Changing channels does not use the guide filter.  It just goes up or down from whatever channel you are watching.
