Remote issue
Hello, I am just a low budget person using a low priced plan on Xfinity TV only/ No streaming (don't want any streaming)'.
Just today, for the first time ever, my remote, even with with new batteries cannot do just about anything to change the last
channel I was watching last night (no last channel.. numbers not working .. sound volume not working) Channel number not working ...
I tried doing things from the help assistant. My cable bx is an old one with tall green light PAX 50178...
I was told to go to the store and get a new box. I just want to avoid being moved up to something more expensive.

Hello this is Bob who asked the question,
Somewhere I read something about unplugging the Box
I did this, and waited about 15 seconds, then plugged it in again.
I got a black screen for a while ,,,
And then my remote control was working properly again.

From what you are saying, it sounds like you have completed a hard reset of your box and things should be back to working without issue. How are things since completing that reset?
