user_49hrbg Thank you so much for reaching out for help with receiving XiOne boxes when you requested a 4 K TV box. Our XiOne boxes are Wireless 4K TV boxes, just a smaller design. Depending on your local fulfillment center's inventory, you may receive either one of the XiOne boxes or a Xi6. Both boxes have the same experience and 4K options. Our store locations are not currently carrying the XiOne boxes; however, if you prefer the Xi6 option, I would recommend an exchange at your local Xfinity store location to guarantee you get the box you would like, since we can not pick between the options in our inventory.

The other 4K box is the XG1v4.  It connects over coax, the old fashioned way, and has its own internal DVR along with six tuners for simultaneous recording.   The XG1v4 does Atmos, but not Dolby Vision, just HDR10.  Personally, I prefer the XG1v4 over the Xi6, primarily because of audio oddities on the Xi6 and for the DVR and tuner features.  The XG1v4 is hard to get these days.

I wouldn't go the XG1v4, personally. We had issues last winter with TV pixelation, traded boxes to an XG1v4 and it didn't improve. Eventually they sent a tech and he swapped to an IPTV box (Xi6) and basically said Xfinity is converting their TV bands into Internet bands and they're headed to full IPTV in the future anyway. All of our TV and Internet signal were great when he tested it while it was pixelating.

Just my $0.02

Your experience is unfortunate, but not often reported by others with XG1v4s.  I've had two of them for years without those kinds of problems.

Yes.  Xfinity is clearly moving to IPTV.  But, audio is my main issue with the Xi6. There's no way to "set it and forget it" that works correctly for all types of sound.  I run audio through an Atmos receiver.   Set to Auto Detect, stereo source content gets sent as 5.1 Dolby MAT with no sound on the center or surround channels, making it impossible to upmix.  With Expert, it doesn't send Atmos on the 4K RealTime channels.  That means changing the Xi6 audio settings depending on the content I'm watching.  The XG1v4 works correctly for all audio sources.  I'm using the Xi6 on a room with an old TV and no sound system.

The XiOne and Xi6 do not have drives for local recording.  They use the cloud and the number of simultaneous recordings is apparently based on your program plan.  I've read that the premium plans can do six, the same as the XG1v4, but have also seen posts saying three may be the limit.
